Ministry and Site News
~ Wednesday, March 28, 2018 ~
Well, I got some of the previous list done, but have been quite busy. The big news, though, is that we have moved to Victoria BC Canada (on Vancouver Island). This means we’re in reasonable travel distance of the entire island, as well as the Greater Vancouver area, and even Washington State, USA (Seattle, etc.).

It has been a long time since my last update here. Some changes have happened and more are on the way!
First, I have switched the site to HTTPS protocol to encrypt the data stream, including site forms. You might get a ‘mixed-mode’ type message in some browsers (instead of the full ‘lock’) if I haven’t found any old resources being loaded, but it is looking good on the pages I have tested so far. (If notice this, please drop me a note!)
The comment system was switched to Disqus a little while back which should be a big help in being notified of responses to any comments you leave. It is also, in my opinion, the best comment system on the Internet (though note, that you can leave ‘guest’ comments, but you won’t be notified of response or updates).
I will also be switching to a new theme/look for the site which will enable a LOT more functionality. While I love the ‘look’ of this current theme in general, the new theme should also make the site more useable, expandable, and accessible on mobile and other uses. I’m going to clean up images, layouts, and stuff like that as well.
But, the biggest thing is that I’m going to try hard to start creating articles again, and even a podcast! Thanks for following and stay tuned.

Welcome to the ‘new’ TilledSoil.org site. Our old theme was no longer being updated, so it was time to switch. This new theme will give us many new capabilities, and this is just a rough implementation of phase 1. You’ll notice that not all the articles are updated yet, and there is still some clean-up to be done. The goal was just to get close to the previous implementation with the new theme. Phase 2 will shift the list of blog articles to a ‘blog’ page and repurpose some of the ‘front’ page space towards promoting ministry goals and making certain functions of the ministry and site features easier to find. This is also a ‘responsive’ theme, so it should directly support mobile browsers just as well as desktop computers. Please let us know if you run into issues with it, and we’ll see what we can do. Thanks!

Just so everyone knows that I’m not just picking on Microsoft in the call to get rid of IE6, even Microsoft is asking people to upgrade! http://ie6countdown.com/ Please upgrade your browsers! I can hardly believe my site stats in how much IE6 I see. Over the last 6 months: 14.5% Over the last month: 17.9% That is just WAY too much. Go get Firefox, Safari, Chrome, or even a new version of IE please. Thanks.

It has come to my attention that some older versions of Internet Explorer (v6 and prior) are not displaying this site properly. I put one fix in place which will hopefully help some, but please update your browser if you are able. I would recommend Firefox or Safari. Here is an example of what this site should look like in a modern browser:
